Keira Knightley on career itch
The Hollywood star is enjoying a successful career and can soon be seen in Anna Karenina. Although she still has a passion for film, Keira isn’t sure how long that will last.
'I suppose I don’t necessarily like the idea of doing the same thing forever. I love acting because it allows me to be different people and have different experiences, but there is a similar strain to it all the time,' she told Empire magazine.
'I haven’t a f**king clue what I would do if I stopped acting. But I can imagine at some point thinking, ‘I’ve scratched that itch, what’s next?’'
The thought of pursuing a new career path doesn’t scare the 27-year-old star. She doesn’t understand how some people stay in the same career for years on end as she enjoys being challenged.
'I’ve wanted to become an actor since I was three and for a really long time it was absolutely everything in my life. But I think that’s probably a terrible thing if you don’t change your mind about things as you get older – I’m starting to talk like I’m 50 – but I think everyone goes through phases of ‘Is this forever?’' she remarked. 'Would I like to have a job that meant I could spend a lot of time at home and have a social life? That might be nice. But equally, I love my job and I’m incredibly lucky to have it. I just don’t know if it will be what I do forever.'
